Shetland
is about 200 miles north of Aberdeen in Scotland and a similar distance
from Bergen on Norway's west coast. There is a daily, overnight, ferry
link to and from Aberdeen which also calls into Orkney several
times a week.
Regular flights throughout the year connect Shetland directly with
Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Orkney. There are connections to all
main UK airports.
The
flight
from Aberdeen is one hour. There are also direct flights between Shetland
and Stansted in the summer.
Connections within Shetland are excellent with frequent car ferries
to most of the islands and a splendid road network. Buses connect most
areas
although
to fully explore the islands a car is recommended. Cycling is a pleasure
on the quiet roads but beware of the hills and headwinds!
Mucklehus is 18 miles south of Lerwick, the capital of Shetland and
8 miles north of Sumburgh, the islands main airport. We are
a 10 minute walk from the bus stop on the main Lerwick – Sumburgh
route, providing excellent frequent daily service.
